Steve Hershey (R-36), who represents Cecil County and three other Eastern Shore counties in Annapolis. Virtually alone among Maryland Republicans, Hershey has taken to Twitter for several days to call out racists and suggest that President Trump didn’t go far enough to address the root causes of the terrorism that targeted Hispanics in Texas. “I’m done with the thoughts and prayers. I’m done with the phony outrage from scores of politicians. I’m angry. I’m horrified. I’m devastated. Our American culture is suffering. Let’s call this what it is: A white nationalist committed an act of terrorism.” Hershey wrote on Sunday 8/4/2019. Later, after President Trump and others insisted that mental illness was the cause, Hershey observed, “How many more times are we going to use “mental illness” as the standard response to a mass shooting? That crutch has been worn thin. Here’s what happened in El Paso: a guy drove hundreds of miles and committed an […]

Cecil Times readers will now be able to share articles posted on Cecil Times with friends via email, Facebook, Twitter and the “Share this” option. At the end of each news article, there are now icons (that’s pictures) that you can click on to share with friends or your social networks. The first option is email, which we expect will be the most popular sharing option for our readers. Tell your friends about Cecil Times! We are also planning another new content feature on Cecil Times that should be popular with our readers. But for now it is hush-hush. Stay tuned as we expand Cecil Times.

You can now sign up for email subscriptions to The Cecil Times and receive automatic notification of updates to the blog. See the email subscription link on the right column and sign up. You will receive an email requesting that you confirm your subscription by clicking on a link in that email. Previously we had included an RSS feed sign up for those who prefer to organize all their blog subscriptions in one place. But we found that the RSS sign up was just confusing some readers. So we have removed the RSS subscription option from the sidebar but it is still active for those who had previously signed up for RSS delivery of The Cecil Times. UPDATE: Cecil Times is now on Twitter: username is ceciltimes. We are also posting our latest “Tweets” in the sidebar on the right of our main blog page. Watch for other changes in The Cecil Times in the New Year.
