R. Christopher Loller, a member of the Cecil County Board of Education from the southern end of the county, has resigned his seat on the elected board. Gov. Martin O’Malley will appoint his replacement. Loller tendered his resignation letter Monday night, citing his decision to re-locate out of the county closer to his employment with JP Morgan Chase in Newark, DE, according to a statement issued Tuesday by the county schools. His resignation will be effective July 12. Loller is a 2003 graduate of Bohemia Manor High School in Chesapeake City and received a degree in finance from the University of Delaware. He also received a master’s degree from Wilmington University in 2009. Elected to the school board in 2008 in a non-partisan election, Loller—whose family is well known in the southern Cecil area—was seen as a voice of younger residents of the county and a potential role model for students, given his educational attainments. He defeated candidates without college degrees. In announcing his resignation, Loller said he felt “fortunate” to have worked with fellow board members and the “dedicated faculty and staff of our school system.” “He has been a true advocate for the children of this school system,” […]
