Lisa Inzerillo,

I think I understand what you are trying to say, despite grammar and spelling problems. But the bottom line is you and your pals do not want the Cecil County farmers to survive, unless their properties "look nice" for your nearby and probably new built big houses.

Farmers are struggling to survive and Perdue is offering them a financial lifeline. So you don't like organic chicken farms. What do YOU and your family eat? If you knew anything about agricultural economics, you would realize that a few "organic vegetable gardens" are not going to provide a living wage for farm families.

The Horst family has gone above and beyond in trying to go ahead with respect for neighbors even more than the law requires. For their efforts, they have been attacked, cursed and treated very badly by a very loud small group that probably never worked so hard in their lives to make a living while caring for the land.

I am so tired of hearing about farmers rights. What has happened to citizens rights. The Good Neighbor policy, is not good enough. These CAFOS, are not mom and pop farmers. These are industrial operations and should be labeled as such and regulated as other polluting industries are.

I have watch what is happening over and over again in each County on the Shore. You know why there is no studies on the health affect from CAFO's? Because the poultry industry does not want it. We have submitted a bill to senate a few weeks ago in Annapolis asking for the studies to prove the industry is right or wrong. Guess what they strongly say it's not needed. So they continue to ignore families and children the right to know why our Shore has the highest rates of cancer and respitory problems in Maryland.

The poultry industry incentives are, let's listen folks, CORPORATE WELFARE. YES YOUR TAX DOLLARS DOLED OUT TO THE CHICKEN GROWERS. That money doesn't come from the chicken companies it comes from you and I the citizen!!!! This is what Delmarva Poultry Industry does best, save their own billion dollar industry money and places it on taxpayers back. It's a win win for big poultry.

I am at a loss to understand why people who moved from nearby cities or neighboring states and into rural, agriculture based Cecil County are angry they are seeing/smelling a farm in their backyard. The Horst farm has been an established farm for generations and the family is dedicated to farming and raising their family in the community. The small, vocally angry group of neighbors who have moved into the vicinity will only be happy when they have run the farmers out of the business of farming.

The only thing these angry city people want planted or grown is more houses and the farmer's property rights to be dictated by their demands. SMH
