It's amazing how our county government is getting to put these places in residential communities. Sneaking them in right under the neighbor's noses. The CFA [Chesapeake Feline Association] was funded by the county [and] they allowed the neighbors to fight in court; they didn't reveal until the end they changed the rules or have no written guidelines for kennels in residential neighborhoods.

They should use up some of the vacant properties in Elkton, not come into a residential community so animals will get dumped off and the community will suffer. As an animal lover, what I see going on has nothing to do with what is best for the animals. It's all about power. Shame on Cecil County for letting this happen.

According to this article, I am VERY disturbed to read that 26% of the cats at Buddy for Life were euthanized in the second quarter, considering they boast to be a no-kill facility (providing further proof of that false proclamation). To allow this organization an extension of their contract is an egregious mistake and a very poor decision.

Not only have they been deceitful from the first RFP submission, they have been blatantly dismissive, unethical and arrogant in their actions as the vendor for animal control in Cecil County. Buddy for Life has been a nationwide embarrassment to our County and yet they are allowed to continue to serve in their dysfunctional and unqualified capacity as animal control agents.

Another "temporary" solution needs to be considered and people who are truly concerned need to inundate the County Executive's office with letters, phone calls, etc. asking that this extension be re-evaluated and a better alternative be provided to the citizens of Cecil County. Oversight, and the quarterly public meetings, of this vendor need to be re-established now. If not, our County is being as deceitful as the vendor that is being paid with our tax dollars.

Citizens reaching out to Tari Moore and the Council have been ignored and even laughed at too many times. The Council recently bemoaned the fact that so few citizens show up for meetings and especially citizens corner. Why should they? Their voices mean nothing, their input is ignored for the most part.
