The chrony old boy ties– department heads having board memberships with a county council member– are not a good thing. We need independent leaders on the county council.

Council members are part time for the county and they have a top priority to another job that really pays their salary. So Patchell is responsible to his YMCA board but some of those board members are county officials whose own salary would depend on Patchel as their county council boss! Conflict of interests here, I think.
