Bottom line is the impact grants are just that, grants-- free for alls to whomever has their hands open. A significant portion should go to those who have gambling problems. But then again, anyone who knowingly goes into an establishment that takes in more than they pay out...

Regardless of how you feel about the benefits/drawbacks of what the Pregnancy Center does, the money set aside for local impact grants isn't tax revenue -- it's part of the money made by Hollywood Casino that is slated to come back to local government.

The more appropriate question here is what local impact does the Casino have on pregnancy or the Cecil County Pregnancy Center?

The Cecil County Pregnancy Center certainly has the right to voice their religious convictions about women's rights, even though they go against my beliefs and fifty years of Supreme Court decisions. But they DON'T have the right to use county tax revenues to finance their proselytizing. We can only hope that the County Commissioners have read enough of the First Amendment to recognize the impropriety of honoring the Pregnancy Center's request for funding.
