So many young people graduate from college with staggering student loan debt that can take a decade or more to pay off, assuming they can find a job that pays enough to let them pay off their loans. The Tech School lets students graduate with skills that can immediately be put to work without having to worry about student loans.

Unfortunately the school board wimped out and pushed the tech school on to the back burner-- just like the county commissioners did. More about that in a future posting here...Cecil Times]]></description>

I remember reading a few years back how demand for College degrees (outside of Engineering) was shrinking, and demand for technical skillsets (like electrician, plumber, and automotive repair) were growing due to a lack of qualified applicants.  College isn&#039;t the right choice for every student.  It can put a family into debt to pay for a degree that won&#039;t noticably increase the applicant&#039;s chances in a stagnant job market.  Tech schools give students an option, and furthermore, drive the local economy.  Investing in schools of technology is also investing in the future of the county.]]></description>
